"Art is the triumph over chaos." - John Cheever

My passions are simple, but bring
immense joy to my life - laughter with family and friends, walking Lola, “The
Boston Terrorist”, seeing the world near and far, and photography. As a native Texan, I’ve had the privilege of
seeing much of this great state, though not yet all of it, and I’ve also been
fortunate enough to travel abroad to a variety of countries and places that
have always left me inspired and often in awe.
This life with all its ups and
downs, people of every kind, places hither and yon, it’s all made up of
interesting things and I can’t help but stare!
I have a curiosity that begs to be explored and a creativity that
demands expression. Photography is not
the only creative art form that interests me but it is the one that I seem to
have held most sacred through all the years.
Age 7 seems to be the time in my life that I remember first holding a camera of my very own. One of those cheap, boxy, cameras made of turquoise blue plastic with a strap that I kept ‘round my wrist at all times. Many favorite memories were captured with that camera and so 1968 became the formative year for my love of photography. The cameras and the art of photography (and even myself) have definitely evolved through the decades and I can say after years of pursuing this indulgent hobby of mine, I am happier and more content than I’ve ever been. Like my faithful pup, Lola, photography just makes me happy.
My style of photography I hope is unique to my own personal vision and one that I hope gives voice to my mind’s eye. I know that I see things differently than others and it’s that perspective that I try to capture in my photography. And even if I can’t quite get it through the lens, I don’t mind exploring my creative options with photo editing tools like Lightroom and Photoshop plus Nik and Topaz plug-ins to make it what I want, to make it evoke what I felt when I saw what I saw in that split nanosecond. I find great joy in pushing the limits on my own imagination to bring forth something with character and whimsy that makes me smile or at least contemplate the complexity and beauty of this world we live in. I hope it does the same for you.
